I’m doing the Surf City Marathon in February but I’m also trying to raise funds to send wheelchairs to less fortunate immobile people in several third world countries. Your donations will be greatly appreciated!!
Who wouldnt want to eat sinfully for Thanksgiving??
Really now, were all tempted to eat good food especially when were around family and friends but listen… There’s definitely a way around it without passing up those sinful temptations. So here’s some ideas I’ve come up with and heard from other people:
Remember how your parents or elders told you never to pick at your food?? Well if its Thanks Giving and you’re trying to manage your figure. PICK AT YOUR FOOD ALL DAY. Have those small bites throughout the day and don’t ever serve yourself a full plate! Plus picking at your food allows you to be ever so sociable throughout the day.
Stay in the holiday spirits and stay away from the other spirits. SODA! Sometimes family gets nothing but soda for the party. After all what is a party without any fizzy bubbly?! But STAY AWAY FROM IT! Set yourself up with a cup of tea or have water with you at all times. It will curve your appetite and decrease your food grabbing power to 1 hand only.
Let your family do the work for you. Ever have those times at a thanksgiving party when all your cousins or peers become fixated on a certain food item then they all go grab a plate of it?? If you join that band wagon you’re done for! But why suffer the agony on missing out on the most desired food of the party. Politely ask one of those going to fill up on the “most desired food” to grab a little extra for you. Otherwise, pick other peoples plates. You’ll be doing the both of you a favor. I know this one sounds kind of far fetch because in certain situations it would be rude to pick on someones plate. So make sure you’re really close to that person before you do so… you don’t want a food fight to erupt.
Plan holiday activities! sometimes the boys will want to play poker or play some football in the yard. The girls will want to start a board game or set up holiday games. I strongly suggest there be activities! It livens up any party and it will keep you busy and away from all the food. So instead of getting bored and heading for another unnecessary fill at the food station, initiate activities with your friends and loved ones!
Have a quick mental rating for food:
Dessert’s: Keep portions very low on this one because all that sugar will end up as you know what!
Meats: If this is 50% of your plate or what you’ve been eating throughout the day you’ve over stepped your boundary. Keep tabs on your meats as well and try to keep it at least at 25% or lower.
Carbohydrates: ie. mashed potato, rice, etc. you can load up on these a little more than meats but it can also cause you to have a food coma. DONT HAVE A FOOD COMA!
Fruits and Veggies: Take your fill! These are sinless and will add fiber and vitamins to your holidays! They’ll also keep you full with no regrets.
HAVE FUN BEING IN THE LOVING COMPANY OF YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. MOST ESPECIALLY, DON’T FORGET TO BE THANKFUL!

Day 10: I have 3 dogs: Tripsy is my baby. A pretty big baby… Shes a lab/pointer with a big heart. Shes black white and tan and she has a little white diamond patch on the top of her head. I got Tripsy on April fools day so That’s her birthday.
Booger is the small nasty guy. Hes a Swedish Valhund. He’s all bark and no bite. For some he growls and barking as an invitation to come play or give him attention instead of whining and whimpering. He’s got the tail part down though. Booger is black and tan with a patch of white on his chest. Booger is my uncles little problem.
Jordan is the newest but cutest of the bunch but hes so ugly hes cute. Jordan is a pug. Although I am his master, hes my moms baby. He can get away with stuff with her but not me.
Day 9: So if you don’t know, a “meme” is a cultural unit (an idea or value or pattern of behavior) that is passed from one person to another by non-genetic means (as by imitation); “memes are the cultural counterpart of genes”.
The question is “what is your favorite meme at the moment?”
My favorite meme at the moment is something that was taught to me by my great grandma. She said, “Kung talagang mahal mo ang isang tao, gagawin mo, at magagawa mo ang lahat para sakanya”
Translation — If you truly love another person you will do and you will be able to do everything for this person.
I loved my great grandma so much and I believe her teaching to be true. Culturally, her statement represents a humble and loving Filipino as well as a hardworking one. For a person who lived 101 years, I would not doubt it in any way if someone were to remember her as a “True Filipino” because I do.
So I don’t know if you guys use this already but I have been using it and it was introduced to me by a good friend. gmaps-pedometer. Its definitely a great way to measure and plan out your routes before you run.
Day 8: I guess you can call me somewhat of a fitness guru. My exercise habits are simple. monday wednesday saturday is usually my gym time and I work on cross training and weight lifting. Then tuesday thursday sunday are my running days and I may do light lifting on these days. Friday is my rest day
Day 7: How you came across tumblr and how your life has changed since joining.
I came across tumblr from a friend that introduced me to it and I started using it for a health and fitness purpose. I’ve stayed on top of my own health since then and it allows me to exercise more and be active. I love it.
I have MANY close friends but there are a few that I must mention in regards to this challenge
Theres Mandy, my brother from another mother apparently I met him at a bonfire prior to getting acquainted with him when he was hitting on one of my friends from Long Beach. We’ve been through so much together going on 8-9 years now? Our common ground is N.E.R.D. Basketball, and Baseball. Too bad he’s an Angels fan though, I’m the Dodger blue. So many memories with this brother of mine he deserves the right hand seat.
To my left is my Sistah from another mistah Jo ann. She’s sweet, funny and sounds sarcastic but don’t mess with her shes also super smart, cunning, and witty. She’ll turn you around in a second. The perfect sister. She cares for and Mandy like we were her own and she makes sure we do alright and when it comes to the girls she makes sure they treat us right or she’ll tell us otherwise. She’s super studious (she studies law) and I miss her because I barely get to see her. It’s fun when the three of us are together (Me, Mandy, Jo ann) were like family.
AND THEN THERES JASON. He’s bigger than you. This guy, I’ve also been through so much with him and I gotta say I have to thank him for being such an example of strength over the years. His family is like family to me and I feel like an asian adopted son taken into a caucasian family. Being around this guy simply makes me feel like everything is gonna be alright. We’re fraternity brothers but I can say we have definitely gone past that in regards to being brothers.
Mariel is now my godsister, but before that she was and is still is a really close friend. Our friendship goes way back and if I’m not mistaken, 10 or more years now… What more can I say? She’s family too and she clearly earns the right to say and ask anything of me. Nuff said…
Day 3: I have a hard time choosing between Glee and Greys Anatomy. But in regards to how long I’ve been watching it would have to be Greys. Plus I associate more with that kind of a show since I work in a big hospital.
Day 2: I have two ear piercings one on each ear. When me and my cousin were about 15-16 years old we decided to pierce our ears. We did it the old school way. BY OUR SELVES! nowadays that doesn’t seem like a big deal but back then for me and my cousin, icing our ears while burning a safety pin to sterilize it then poking it through our ear lobe was a very big deal.
About a year ago I got a tattoo. It’s a blue ringed octopus. I’n the wild you won’t see its rings shine brilliant blue until it is provoked. To me it symbolizes how I shine through adversity.
Last nights run wasn’t so great. Evidently I am slow at getting back on track but there’s other reasons why I didn’t do so well. I was struggling on last nights run. Although I wanted to keep my run up to par my body didn’t let me.
My plan for carbo load was insufficient. I had two pieces of multi-grain toast with honey and butter, two bananas, a high fiber snack bar, and a chicken salad from Chipotle fixed up low carb low calorie. I really left myself on the short end today. I’m sure what I ate today did not surpass 1000 calories and that left me weak and insufficient for my run.
I also planned to take in more fluids but apparently I didn’t take in enough. My blood pressure was so low I started to get light headed and could feel my jugular veins straining. When I took my blood pressure at home, it was not where it should have been for a person who just ran about 3 miles.
So lets just say I learned my lesson. Let me know if you guys have any other suggestions. I’m totally open for suggestions.
Hi...I ate all my lunch. Normally I would have had mei fun and lo mein with it. So...I felt really good about skipping the carbs. Now....if I eat 'clean' the rest of today, I'll be on track. Thanks for the reply.
“HAVE A VERY NICE WEEKEND!”—Weekends tend to be the time when most of us eat out, eat alot, and on top of that drink alcohol. For some people, the weekend means inactivity. Try challenging yourself to keep consumption in moderation this weekend. I assure you, it pays off..
As much as two-thirds of American adults today are either over weight or obese. This makes us susceptible to some cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. What I’m trying to say is that. Being overweight with noticeable fat deposits is not only a cosmetic problem. It can pose a threat to our life as well as our health. This is why those of us who are “fat” need to lose weight. We need to understand that we are taking a risk allowing ourselves to be obese and over weight… Lets start with eating healthy, losing weight, and exercising!
Health… My “certain other” served me a banana and OJ this morning after getting out of the shower knowing I live and eat healthy. Shes been taking steps towards a healthy lifestyle as well. It’s so contagious… Just gave me a warm feeling all over this morning.
